CHAPEL HILL — No. 11 North Carolina held Davidson to just one shot, but the Tar Heels couldn’t find the back of the net against the Wildcats as the two sides finished with a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night.
Carolina and Davidson traded possession early, but began relatively quiet for the first portion of the game. Fourteen minutes into the game, Mauricio Pineda put the first shot on goal from about 20 yards out, but it was saved by Davidson goalie Sawyer Gaffney.
To close out the half, the Tar Heels had a pair of opportunities as time winded down. Shots from Raul Aguilera and Pineda found their way close to the net, but couldn’t be punched in for the game’s first goal. After a full 45 minutes, Carolina and Davidson were scoreless as the Tar Heels led the Wildcats 7-1 in total shots.
