The Tar Heels opened up ACC Tournament play Sunday night in a rematch against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The first meeting of the Heels and the Irish this season resulted in a 3-0 victory for the Heels. The result in the ACC Tournament would be no different, as UNC blanked ND 3-0 behind a 2-goal effort from Lotte Wubben-Moy.

The first half was a tale of two defenses. The Tar Heels managed to outshoot the Irish 5-1 in the first half, but each side registered just one shot on goal. The score line remained blank as the first half came to a close.

In the second half the Heels would get the scoring started quickly as Lotte Wubben-Moy threaded a shot into the net in the 52nd minute, followed by assists from Brianna Pinto and Emily Fox. The Heels would strike again in the 74th minute, as a Lois Joel corner kick found Maycee Bell in the box and eventually got to Ru Mucherera who fired a shot into the back of the net to give the Heels a comfortable lead. However, the scoring was not yet finished. In the 85th minute, Emily Fox was fouled in the box to set up a Lotte Wubben-Moy penalty kick.

After the shutout victory of Notre Dame, the Heels are still yet to concede a goal at Dorrance Field this season. The next game for UNC is the ACC semifinal on Friday November 8th against NC State.
